Voyageur Canoeing

Fort Langley Voyageur Canoeing was amazing, we left for Fort before school started, got into groups, into rows of two and entered our canoes. We paddled around before we met back at the dock, where a local Chieftain sang us of and gave us a prayer for a good voyage. We left, our team leading the pack and eventually leaving it, until we had to turn around and come back and wait for the others. We carried on stopping every once and a wail to learn about voyageurs and there way of life, or to stop for a break. be entered a channel that lead us to a park, where was sat and ate our food, before a man talked to us about the salmon that live in the Fraser and come up and down these channels when lying there eggs. We got back in our boats, went back up the channel. Our teachers decided to spice up the field trip by having a race, sadly our team was out of steam from doing so good at the start, to coming in last place. We then had to carry out canoe out of the water and onto a plat form to be taken away, I had a lot of fun and if your in the area check it out!

Garibaldi Provincial Park, BC

Garibaldi Provincial Park, BC! Our first over night activity and only weeks into school! Two large charter buses arrived at our school around 7:45, and we left around 8:30. Arriving there Monday, coming home on Wednesday. The bus ride was fun, long, but fun. We arrived later at Garibaldi, around 30 min from whistler. Our trek up the side of the mountain was very hard, very steep, and very slow but we made it to the to the top and started setting up our tents and bring out our stoves and food for dinner. Our first night in the tent was a mess, it ended up snowing, bringing down our tent, soaking it, and since one of my amazing partners forgot a ground sheet, the bottom of our tent was soaked! Since it snowed, it was too dangerous to hike farther up the mountain to black tusk, or take pictures which where the main reasons why we were there!

Instead of going up the to the peak, we had to sit inside and do school work, fun.... We ate dinner again, had a snowball fight, which was very amusing. Instead of sleeping in our collapsed, and soaked tent we were aloud to sleep in one of the building, that at night were filled with mountain rats, and pica's, yay! It was a long night. In the morning we cleaned up, got packed and departed down the mountain. The pace of my group was insane, passing groups, and coming down the mountain at a jog the whole way coming out first. The bus ride was great having a seat with a bit of padding was heaven. Overall i had a great time and would do it again. If you have any interest in Garibaldi then check out the website listed below!

Kitsilano, Vancouver

My first field trip with my new edge classes was too Kitsilano in Vancouver! We departed for our adventure around 8:30, leaving with two buses full of students. The bus trip took around one hour since we left from Langley and had to make it to Vancouver. we arrived around 9:40, piled out and sat at the Kitsilano Pool, to discuss further actions. We got into groups of two or three to decide tenting partners, what we had a didn't have to complete are trip to Garibaldi, and who should bring what food items. After we had a great scavenger hunt around Kitsilano, along the beach and abit into the city. Fun fun fun. After running around in intense heat, the edgesters broke apart and left for lunch. A couple of us went to Triple O's, and had very large meals after such a hard day. We had around an hour to eat and do whatever until we had to meet back up with our classes. We sat in the blazing heat waiting for everyone to gather, before we split to Bard on the Beach! The whole reason why we where here in the first place, our main destination! We arrived and were seated with the best seats in the house, only right. The play was great and everyone had a blast, if you want to check out bard on the beach I will display a link at the bottom of this page. We left for home around 1:30 and had along bus ride home since other people thought it would be a good idea to leave at the same time. But over all great I had a great time, and i think others in my class did too!
